Lowest Price Technically Acceptable
LPTA
A source-selection method awarding to the cheapest offer that meets all stated technical requirements.
Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) is a source selection method in which award is made to the lowest-priced proposal that is rated technically acceptable against defined pass/fail criteria β with no credit for exceeding requirements. Recent statutes and FAR changes discourage LPTA for complex, knowledge-based, or high-risk services, steering agencies toward best-value tradeoff where quality differences matter. SDVOSBs assess which method a solicitation uses to decide how to price and write a proposal.
