Task Order

An order for services placed against an established IDIQ or schedule contract.

A task order is an order for services issued under an existing indefinite-delivery contract, GWAC, BPA, or Schedule (a delivery order is the equivalent for supplies). The order specifies the work, period, and funding, and is competed among the vehicle's holders under streamlined 'fair opportunity' procedures. Because the base vehicle's terms are already set, task-order awards move faster than open-market acquisitions β€” so for SDVOSBs on a vehicle, the real competition is at the order level.
