Certification & Eligibility

Service-Connected Disability

A disability incurred or aggravated during active military service and officially rated by the VA or DoD.

A service-connected disability is a physical or mental condition that was incurred in, or aggravated by, active service in the U.S. military and is officially rated by the Department of Veterans Affairs or determined by the Department of Defense. For SDVOSB eligibility there is generally no minimum disability percentage β€” even a 0% rating qualifies, provided the rating is documented. The veteran owner's service-connected status is what distinguishes an SDVOSB from a VOSB.
