Defense Contract Audit Agency
DCAA
The DoD agency that audits contractor accounting systems and costs, especially on cost-reimbursement contracts.
The Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) provides audit and financial advisory services to DoD and other agencies in connection with contracts. DCAA reviews the adequacy of a contractor's accounting system, the allowability of incurred costs, and the reasonableness of proposed costs β chiefly on cost-reimbursement and flexibly priced contracts. An SDVOSB pursuing cost-type work must have a DCAA-'adequate' accounting system that segregates direct and indirect costs and complies with applicable cost principles.
