Size Standards & Affiliation

Size Standard

The SBA-set maximum revenue or employee count, keyed to a NAICS code, below which a firm is 'small.'

A size standard is the largest a business and its affiliates may be β€” measured by average annual receipts or by number of employees β€” and still qualify as a small business for federal programs. The SBA sets a size standard for each NAICS code in its Table of Small Business Size Standards. Receipts-based standards range from roughly $2.5 million to $47 million, and employee-based standards from 100 to 1,500 employees. A firm must be small under the NAICS code assigned to a specific contract to compete for that set-aside.
