How does the SDVOSB program compare to the SBA 8(a) program?
The 8(a) Business Development Program is for socially and economically disadvantaged individuals and offers a nine-year program with sole-source and competitive set-asides. SDVOSB status has no time limit and does not require economic disadvantage β only veteran status and a service-connected disability. 8(a) firms can also be SDVOSB-certified, allowing them to bid under either program. 8(a) offers more intensive business development support; SDVOSB offers greater procurement priority at the VA.
