Frequently Asked Questions
Where does federal procurement forecast data come from?
Federal agencies are required to publish advance procurement plans and forecasts on SAM.gov (System for Award Management). Contracting officers post Presolicitation Notices and Sources Sought notices that preview upcoming requirements, typically 30β120 days before formal solicitation.
How far in advance are SDVOSB set-aside procurements forecasted?
Most agencies post procurement forecasts 30 to 90 days before solicitation. Larger acquisitions (over $10M) may appear in agency acquisition plans 6β12 months in advance. The SBA requires agencies to submit annual procurement forecasts, which are published on each agency's website.
Can I filter SDVOSB opportunities by NAICS code?
Yes β use the NAICS filter on this page to narrow opportunities to your specific industry code. Each procurement is tagged with the applicable NAICS code from the contracting officer's determination. SDVOSB set-asides are available when at least two SDVOSBs are expected to submit competitive offers.
What is the difference between SDVOSB and VOSB set-asides in this calendar?
SDVOSB set-asides are restricted to businesses owned and controlled by service-disabled veterans. VOSB set-asides are available to all veteran-owned businesses regardless of disability status. At the VA, both SDVOSB and VOSB designations are used under the Veterans First Contracting Program, which prioritizes veteran-owned businesses over other small-business programs.
What does 'forecast' status mean for a procurement?
A 'forecast' status means the opportunity has been identified in an agency acquisition plan or pre-solicitation notice but has not yet been formally posted on SAM.gov. Dates are estimates based on agency procurement projections and are subject to change.
